Support Us
The National Melbourne. Repair. Restore. Renew.
The National Melbourne is a not-for-profit organisation that relies on the generosity of people like you to help us cultivate creativity and excellence in the performing arts through our historic theatre and schools.
The initial phase of The National Repair Restore Renew program has been completed including The National’s Awning Conservation Project, which was made possible by the State government of Victoria and supported by the City of Port Phillip along with generous donors and philanthropic organisations.
We are now preparing for the next phase of the program, which includes
• the completion of our façade-lift (repair of plaster and repainting the building’s exterior)
• new light box displays
• repair of the stair climber to provide wheelchair access to our theatre, and
• restroom renovations including additional stalls and the installation of gender-neutral facilities.
A Thriving Suburbs grant of $590k from the Federal government will allow us to continue our conservation and renewal initiatives. We now need to raise the equivalent amount of funds to meet the $1.2m expenditure.
If you can contribute to the next phase of our façade-lift, please donate today.

Bequests
Bequests are an important source of support for The National Theatre and its Schools. They ensure we continue to thrive and make it possible to continue and expand the range of activities.
Wills must meet certain legal requirements, so we recommend you seek legal advice from a public trustee or solicitor. If you already have a will, you can simply add a supplement setting out your bequest instructions.
We recommend making out your gift for the general purposes of National Theatre.
Please let us know if you intend to include the National Theatre in your will or ask your solicitor to inform us. Your enquiries will be handled in confidence.

Scholarships
The National Ballet School and Drama School offer scholarships to gifted and dedicated students who may not otherwise be able to pursue professional studies. Your provision of a Scholarship or donation to the current scholarship fund will give a young ballet dancer or budding thespian the experience of a lifetime, enabling them to hone their craft in one of Australia’s leading performing arts training institutions.
